Poetry

I studied poetry while earning my BA in Creative Writing, and have been writing lyrical and confessional poetry for years. You can read in-progress poems, past work, and stanzas as I share them on Instagram @megancrayne. I’ve been revisiting poetry during the pandemic, like with this piece from Headline Poetry & Press:

And I’ll be featured in the upcoming COVID-19 Anthology from Train River Press. I’m currently working on an autobiographical poetry collection focused on generational trauma and memory, as well as a re-imagining of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby as lyrical poetry.

For the rest of 2021, I hope to continue writing poetry weekly and exploring old forms and literary devices as well as writing “hive poems”, or poetry written through suggestions from friends and Instagram followers. You can read this work and delve into poetic topics by reading my free newsletter, crayne & the bee. I even include a prompt in each so you can “write along” with me!

You can support my work by purchasing any of my digital poetry zines on Gumroad, like my poem matriarch.

COLLAGE

In my free time, I amass old PDFs of scanned magazines and old advertisements to create digital collage work. Most of my recent pieces have skewed political, but I also enjoy playing with magazine headlines, illustration, and vintage typography.
